City of Lakewood Veterans Day Proclamation 2016



WHEREAS, from the fields and forests of war-torn Europe to the jungles of Southeast Asia, from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan, brave patriots have protected our nation’s ideals, rescued millions from tyranny and helped spread freedom around the globe; and

WHEREAS, America’s veterans answered the call when asked to protect our nation from some of the most brutal and ruthless tyrants, terrorists and militaries the world has ever known; our veterans stood tall in the face of grave danger and enabled our nation to become the greatest force for freedom; and

WHEREAS, members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine have answered a high calling to serve and have helped secure America at every turn; and

WHEREAS, our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their courage and exemplary service; we remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom’s defense and made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit; and

WHEREAS, these brave men and women and their selfless sacrifices continue to inspire us today as Lakewood in partnership with RallyPoint/6, a Community Based Organization, work to create a continuum of care to ensure all veterans are able to reach their fullest potential as the citizen-leaders they are; and

WHEREAS, as many face overwhelming unknowns, through community collaborations like RallyPoint/6, we can ensure that those who have served their nation receive the resources they deserve; and

WHEREAS, their abiding patriotism and enduring devotion to the ideals on which the United States is founded provides a source of permanent inspiration to ensure our unwaivering support as a community; and

WHEREAS, through their commitment to freedom, America’s veterans and organizations like RallyPoint/6, serving them have positively impacted thousands of lives and made not only our city, but our country and the world more secure, and the City of Lakewood in partnership with RallyPoint/6, and other community based organizations resolves to be a catalyst in support of our military and veterans for generations to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Lakewood City Council hereby proclaim November 11, 2016 as Veterans Day and the month of November 2016 as


in the City of Lakewood and encourages all citizens to recognize our military veterans and the organizations supporting them for their contributions to our national security, to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans and those who served in harm’s way, and to actively support our local veterans and their family members.
