Since RP/6 opened its doors just two years ago, it has partnered with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to provide on-site financial coaching to service members, veterans, and their family members.

The CFPB recognizes that the financial transition from military to civilian life can be challenging. To help make this transition more seamless, the Bureau has developed a Financial Coaching Initiative that targets recently transitioned veterans and economically vulnerable consumers. Under the Initiative, the CFPB has placed 60 certified financial coaches, all of whom are accredited by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, at organizations across the nation to help individuals reach their financial goals.

RP/6 submitted an application to the CFPB and was chosen as one of the 60 locations nationwide to be a partner to the Financial Coaching Initiative. Since then, RP/6 has had the pleasure of hosting Patricia Jackson, an accredited financial coach, at its Lakewood, WA, location. Throughout her time at RP/6, Ms. Jackson has worked closely with Scouts to deliver best in class financial coaching to RP/6 clients. Ms. Jackson takes the time to work with each individual for as long as it takes to understand his or her financial situation, identify target areas, develop an attainable plan to achieve financial success, and work with the individual as he or she works through that plan.

When Kelli, a U.S. Army veteran, came to RP/6 for assistance with her and her husband’s transition from service, a Scout connected her with Ms. Jackson. “She sat me down and helped me figure out my budget to where I could prepare for my husband and I’s transition out of the military,” said Kelli. “Patty helped us get our minds focused on where our money was going, and we were able to track better and become better savers. I am so grateful for her help. She was straightforward and had amazing insight for us.”

RP/6 is grateful for the hard work and support that Ms. Jackson dedicates to each and every client. It is through partnerships like this one with the CFPB that RP/6 is able to connect service members, veterans, and their families to resources to help them on their path forward.
